Underground Railroad at Strathmore (Videos)
An Evening With Kathleen Battle on May 18 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. Legendary soprano Kathleen Battle and acclaimed pianist Cyrus Chestnut explore music that expressed the suffering and salvation of enslaved Africans as they found their way to freedom. The two are accompanied by the Heritage Signature Chorale directed by Stanley Thurston. Tickets range from $55 – $95 and may be purchased by calling the box office at 301.581.5100 or visiting Strathmore website online.
Audience members can join the pre-concert lecture, Freedom Songs’ Journey to the Concert Hall, in the Shapiro Music Room in the Mansion at 6:30 p.m. Free with concert ticket. Limited seating available.
This concert will run approximately 110 minutes with intermission.
