Gaithersburg Police Asking for Public’s Help (Photo)
Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Investigations Section are investigating an attempted strong arm robbery and sex assault incident that occurred in the 900 block of Clopper Road on Feb 11. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a possible suspect.
On Feb. 11, police said, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the victim stated that she was walking to her apartment on the third floor when an unknown male approached her from behind and asked for the time. According to police, the victim felt uncomfortable and attempted to walk away from the suspect and back down the stairs. As she was walking away, the suspect pushed her against the wall and inappropriately touched her, police said. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and as she tried to summon help, the suspect attempted to forcibly take her purse without success, police said.
Police have released this suspect description: black male, with a dark complexion, 19-29 years old with short hair, 6’0″ and thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and black shoes with white markings on them, police said.

Crimes Solvers will pay cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
