Ervin & Bowser Town Hall (Video)
Montgomery County Council member Valerie Ervin and D.C. Council member Muriel Bowser co-hosted a unique community meeting on Monday, Jan. 14 at Shepherd Elementary School in Northwest Washington. Many residents attended the meeting and a lively discussion ensued.
See the highlights in this video.
Shepherd Elementary is located at 7800 14th Street NW in Washington. Councilmember Ervin represents District 5, which includes Eastern Montgomery County. Councilmember Bowser represents Ward 4, which includes parts of upper Northwest D.C.
Councilmembers Bowser and Ervin frequently coordinate on issues that impact area residents.
This meeting is follow-up to a discussion Councilmembers Ervin and Bowser had recently when they were on a County Cable Montgomery (CCM) show called No Boundaries. In that show, Montgomery Councilmembers talk with public and private leaders from other jurisdictions about shared common issues. That show can be viewed on the internet at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H1RBclAtQQ .
The primary topics of Monday’s meeting will include dog parks; green space; the 16th Street Traffic Circle; parking; development; and the Metropolitan Branch Trail.
To help answer questions and ensure follow-up to questions that are raised Monday, Maryland, Montgomery County and District agencies expected to be represented at the meeting include:
- Montgomery County Department of Transportation
- Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
- State Highway Administration
- Montgomery County Police
- Silver Spring Regional Services Center
- District Department of Transportation
- The D.C. Mayor’s Office
The Silver Spring Advisory Board has relocated its monthly meeting so members could attend this community meeting.
