Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Investigative Section arrested 25-year-old Keishawn Pettaway of Cinnabar Terrace in Gaithersburg, MD on October 31. Pettaway has been charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm, first degree assault, reckless endangerment, theft less than $1000, conspiracy to commit an armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit theft.
On December 30, 2011, the victim was entering his residence on North Summit Avenue when an unknown black male approached him, brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded his wallet. The victim complied and observed the suspect flee on foot and enter a blue unknown make and model vehicle.
During the investigation, Pettaway was developed as a second suspect. As detectives attempted to locate Pettaway, it was discovered that he had fled the state of Maryland. Detectives contacted the Maryland State Police Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service for assistance.
Based on their investigation they were able to determine Pettaway had returned back to Maryland where he was located, placed under arrest and was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
