Martin O'Malley

Governor’s Hurricane Press Conference (Video)

Martin O'MalleyGovernor Martin O’Malley held a Hurricane Sandy press conference today, October 30 at the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to provide an update on damage and storm operations.

The press conference was streamed live here: http://www.governor.maryland.gov/stream.asp

Governor O’Malley stressed that the state was fortunate with the path Sandy took. At this time, there are over 308,000 power outages state wide. The utility crews were able to start repairs at dawn today, much earlier than forecasted.

O’Malley continues to advise residents to stay off the roads until debris can be removed. Remember when you encounter a traffic light that is out, treat it as a four way stop.

If you are using a generator, remember to keep it well ventillated. The carbon monoxide exhaust is deadly.

Flooding will be a concern for quite a few days.

Early Voting will resume tomorrow, October 31 with extended hours. Early Voting polling places will be open from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
