I-270 Ramp Meters Will Fully Activate on Wednesday

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration announced that they are fully activating new ramp meters on I-270 in Montgomery County on Wednesday.

The traffic control system, which will cover 23 ramps to southbound I-270 in Montgomery and Frederick counties, has been in the process of testing since late June. Drivers may have seen flashing yellow lights on ramps as part of the activation project.

According to the Department of Transportation, the meters have the capacity to operate during the hours of  4 a.m. and 11 p.m. daily and are expected to be active during popular traffic hours and when I-270 experiences traffic congestion.
