MCPS To Host Annual Back to School Jam Aug. 21

Montgomery County Public Schools will host its Back-to-School Jam, the annual return-to-school fair, on Saturday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m at the Westfield Wheaton Mall.

According to the MCPS webpage for the event, the main goal is to teach students and their families “about the school system and county programs and services.”  No registration is needed to attend. The Back-to-School Jam will also feature giveaways, free music and entertainment.

According to information from MCPS, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services will operate a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the event. Residents can sign up for vaccinations prior to the Back-to-School Jam.

There will be free transportation to and from the event from five MCPS high schools: Gaithersburg, Montgomery Blair, Paint Branch, Richard Montgomery and Seneca Valley. Shuttles will leave between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. to arrive at Westfield Wheaton Mall and will bring participants back to the same schools between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Due to the county’s reinstatement of its mandate requiring masks in public indoor spaces, masks must be worn by attendees regardless of vaccination status.
