County to Celebrate Latino Conservation Week 2021

Montgomery Parks will be hosting a series of events to celebrate the 8th annual Latino Conservation Week, July 17 –  25.

Latino Conservation Week was created by the Hispanic Access Foundation in 2014 and it aims to “connect Latino communities across the country with opportunities to get involved in outdoor recreation, conservation education, and advocacy efforts,” according to Montgomery Parks.

More than 160 events are expected nationwide with the purpose of inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards in the Latino community.

Some of the events that will be taking place in Montgomery County include a neighborhood cleanup, nature walk, family fishing, kayaking, and tree climbing.

MyMCM spoke with Valeria Espinoza, from Montgomery Park’s Volunteer Services Office, about the upcoming events.
