Sardi’s Chicken Restaurants to Go Offline May 5 to Pay Tribute to CEO

Sardi’s Chicken — which has restaurants in Gaithersburg, Olney, and Takoma Park — will close on Wednesday, May 5 to honor the passing of its late CEO and co-founder, Philip Sardelis. The restaurants will reopen on May 6.

Sardelis, who resided in Derwood, died from complications related to COVID-19. He was 48.

A message on the company’s website says, “In honor of our beloved CEO and Co-Founder, Phillip G. Sardelis’ passing, our locations will be closed Wednesday, May 5, 2021. We appreciate your loyalty and support.”
