Weather Advisory Extended as Wintry Mix Continues

The National Weather Service (NWS) extended its winter weather advisory for parts of Montgomery County to last until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

NWS said additional snow accumulation of up to two inches and ice up to one-tenth of an inch is possible for northwest, central and southeast county, as well as Washington, D.C. and parts of northern Virginia.

Capital Weather Gang (CWG) reported that around noon Monday, the wintry weather mix in northern and western county transitioned from sleet to snow. NWS Baltimore-Washington forecasts up to two inches in additional snowfall through Tuesday and up to 1/4 inch in additional ice accumulation until early Tuesday. Similarly, CWG predicts a coating to two inches for the D.C. area.

NWS tells residents to use caution while traveling and plan on slippery road conditions.
