Montgomery COVID-19 Cases Pass 13,650; Maryland Cases Top 62,000
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 13,657 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is a 0.4% increase from the 13,607 cases reported Sunday.
Since the first case in March, 655 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of four deaths since Sunday, according to the health department. The number of probable deaths is 39.
Montgomery County has seen more deaths due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 615 residents, the second-highest number in the state.
The positivity rate of 8.06%, reported Monday by the state health department, is the second-highest in the state, behind Prince George’s at 9.88%. The state calculates the positivity rate using the average rate for seven days. Montgomery County on Sunday reported a positivity rate of 9% based on a rolling three-day average.
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Monday morning, there were 62,032 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 331 cases, or 0.5%, in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 2,817 Marylanders, six since Sunday.
Currently, 745 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is six fewer than Sunday. Of those patients, 292 are in intensive care, which is 21 fewer than Sunday.
There are fewer than one thousand Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19 for the eighth day since April 9.
The state’s positivity rate dropped below 7% for the fourth straight day. It is currently at 6.12%.
A total of 17,767 cases and 1,157 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
