Takoma Park Set to Open Community Patio and Streetery Friday

Beginning Friday, the northbound side of Laurel Avenue in Takoma Park will be closed to create room for the Community Patio and Takoma Streetery.

Following the opening of Bethesda’s streetery earlier this week, Takoma Park will begin hosting its own, with the creation of outdoor dining and seating for the public. According to Takoma Park’s website, the northbound side of Laurel Avenue “will be closed to allow for outdoor dining and enjoyment, curbside pickup and other public uses to assist Takoma Park’s businesses, employees, and residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Overall, this is a way for residents to enjoy themselves, while supporting their local businesses in their reopening.

While residents enjoy the Community Patio and Takoma Streetery, social distancing and face mask requirements will remain in effect.

Barries and signage will be in place to announce the closure and detour.
