Federal Agencies, County Programs Closing Early Tuesday Before Snow Falls

As the region readies for the first snowfall of the new year, government facilities and programs are announcing closings and cancellations.

Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area will close early on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Montgomery County Government offices and departments are staying open Tuesday with nonessential employees given the opportunity to use “liberal leave” 2 p.m. through midnight.

Montgomery County Public Schools were dismissed early today. The Districtwide Boundary Analysis meeting scheduled tonight at Walter Johnson High School will be rescheduled.

Montgomery College will close at 1 p.m. today. All evening classes and activities are canceled.

Montgomery County issued a hypothermia alert from noon today through 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8. Temperatures with the wind chill are expected to be below 32 degrees. The possibility of hypothermia and frostbite is a concern, find more information here.

Montgomery County Recreation has canceled all programs, classes, activities and rentals that begin at 3 p.m. or later. The Club Adventure program will open early, parents must pick up participants by 3 p.m. Senior centers close at 3 p.m. The summer job fair scheduled for today at the Plum Gar Community Recreation Center is canceled. Recreation and aquatic centers remain open for drop-in activities only.
