‘We Need You Here,’ Officer Tells Young Man As He Tries to Jump Off Bridge

Montgomery County police have released body cam video worn by one of the officers who helped to prevent a young man from ending his life on the Union Arch Bridge in Bethesda, which crosses MacArthur Boulevard, on Monday night.

“Don’t do this, please, don’t. … We need you here,” Officer Marcella West said on the footage. “I mean this with everything I’ve got.”
