Jones Out of the Running for Permanent Police Chief
Acting Chief Marcus Jones refused to discuss the latest developments in the search for a new police chief Friday.
News outlets reported that Jones was out of the running in favor of Tonya Chapman, the former police chief of Portsmouth, Va., and Antonio DeVaul, the chief of Takoma Park police.
“I’m not going to share any additional information in response to the chief’s search. I’ve made my point known that I’m disappointed and I’ll leave it at that,” Jones said.
He was speaking at a news conference in which he revealed police were releasing nearly 3 ½ hours of body camera footage from an incident at a White Oak McDonald’s.
