Pepco Rate Increase Hearing in Rockville on May 9

The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) has scheduled a public hearing this month on a request by Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) to increase its electric distribution rates by $29.99 million. This is an increase of about $3.51 monthly for the typical residential customer. Pepco provides electricity to about 568,000 customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

Written comments may also be filed with the PSC by May 15, addressed to Terry J. Romine, Executive Secretary, Maryland Public Service Commission, William Donald Schaefer Tower, 6 St. Paul Street, 16th floor, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. Reference “Case No. 9602” with all comments.     IF PEPCO IS SEEKING RATE INCREASES FOR “INFRASTRUCTURE & REPAIRS” … THEN THERE SHOULD BE NO INCREASE IN THE YEARLY DIVIDENDS PAID OUT TO THEIR STOCKHOLDERS … CORRECT ?

    The previous PSC Members allowed PEPCO, before it’s purchase by ENRON, to eliminate the meter readings from the monthly bills. Who ever heard of that re: any metered utility?
    That is the whole concept of having a meter.
    We are getting “the shaft,” by the PSC.
