Three of the 10 Most Diverse Cities in America are in Montgomery County
According to a study by Wallet Hub, three of the top 10 most diverse cities in the country are in Montgomery County, outranking Los Angeles and San Jose, Calif.
Wallet Hub recently released a study that ranked three Montgomery County cities as most diverse in the country based on five indicators. The finance website placed Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown in its top ten “2019’s Most Diverse Cities in the U.S.” report.
The personal finance website compared 501 of the largest U.S. cities using five indicators of diversity including household, religious, socioeconomic, cultural and economic diversity. The data used to measure 13 metrics of diversity was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and ARDA.
According to the 2019 findings, Houston, Texas is the most diverse city in the country.
Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown followed at number four, six, and seven, respectively. The city of Rockville is also on the list at number 28.
Interestingly, when comparing diversity in small cities (fewer than 100,000 residents), Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown, are ranked number one through three, respectively. Rockville comes in as number 10.
The top 10 most diverse cities in America were in order Houston, Texas; Jersey City, N.J.; New York, N.Y.; Gaithersburg, Md.; Dallas, Texas; Silver Spring, Md.; Germantown, Md.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Arlington, Texas; and Long Beach, Calif.
