Student Suffering from Life-Threatening Injuries from Crash

Update, 3:45 p.m.: A 15-year-old boy, hit while waiting for a school bus Tuesday morning, faced life-threatening injuries, Montgomery County police said in a statement. The others injured were a 15-year-old girl and two 14-year-old girls, police said.

The incident occurred at 6:56 a.m. when a 2007 Ford Five Hundred left a gas station at 13615 Georgia Ave., traveling northbound. A white 2014 Volkswagen Jetta also was traveling northbound. For some reason, the two vehicles collided with the Volkswagen leaving the roadway and striking the four students, who all attend John F. Kennedy High School.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Henri Josue Guevara Chicas, 21, of Galvez Street in Silver Spring, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford, Saihou Bunama Bojang, 25, of Featherwood Court in Silver Spring, was not injured.


Original post: At least four Kennedy High School students waiting for a bus in the Aspen Hill area were struck by a car Tuesday morning near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Wendy Lane.

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department and Fire and Rescue crews responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Wendy Lane to the report of a pedestrian and car collision at approximately 7 a.m. this morning.

A total of seven people were hurt and five people were transported to the hospital, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson, Pete Piringer.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, according to police.

Administrators from the school took to Twitter to inform the community that parents of the injured students were contacted.

Northbound Georgia Avenue will be closed as Montgomery County police continue to investigate the incident.
