Five Things to Know for Aug. 28 in Montgomery County

Here are five things you need to know today, Aug. 28, in Montgomery County:

1. Hyperthermia Alert:  The National Weather Service expects the heat index to hit 100 degrees today. Stay cool!

2. Stormwater Discussion: Audubon Naturalist Society Director of Conservation, Eliza Cava, will join activists from the Potomac Conservancy and Friends of Sligo Park to discuss what they call the “stormwater fight” and intrigue in Montgomery County.  The meeting will take place at the Silver Spring Civic Center and begins at 7:30 p.m.

3. Body Combat: Gold’s Gym will host fitness on the square this evening in Rockville. Tonight’s class will be all about combat. Details here.

4. Cal Ripken Jr.: In honor of the Roy Rogers’ 50th anniversary, Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr will join residents for a meet and greet at the Burtonsville location, 15662 Old Columbia Pike, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
