Number of Cats Taken from North Potomac Home Reaches 70

Hazmat techs suit up outside a home where Animal Services officers have removed more than 60 cats.

The number of cats removed from a Sweetbough Court townhome has reached 70, according to a Montgomery County police statement.

Add in the one rabbit and 71 animals have been taken from the North Potomac home, about a mile south of Quince Orchard High School.

Police said Animal Services Officers are trapping the remaining cats humanely to remove them from the property.

Animal Services Division officers arrived at the home, in the 12300 block, about 2 p.m. Saturday, police said. Later that day, officers began removing animals from the home after the owner surrendered them.

Initially 53 cats and one rabbit were removed, police said.

The animals are being cared for at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road, Derwood.
