Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day is the annual industry event during which specialty comics retailers across the nation offer certain titles to customers free of charge. FANTASTIC FORUM visited Cards, Comics & Collectibles in the Baltimore suburb of Reisterstown, Maryland. Top Cow executive Filip Sablik along with creators John Gallager (Buzzboy) and Steve Conley (Bloop) made appearances to the delight of fans. There were also local cosplayers who posed for pictures. Co-host Billie Rae Bates got a rare interview with store owner, Marc Nathan. Mr. Nathan is also the organizer of the Baltimore Comic Con. Entering its 13th year this convention has grown into one of the largest regional shows in the country. Unlike many conventions the Baltimore Comic Con remains a pure comic convention without the multi-media influences of other shows. Baltimore Comic Con is also the home of the Harvey Awards honoring the outstanding work of top comic industy talent.
