New Website Might Reveal Ervin’s Plans
Maryland awaits Valerie Ervin’s decision on the 2018 gubernatorial race, in the meantime, the internet might offer a clue.
On Wednesday afternoon, someone registered “ValerieforMaryland.com” with the web hosting service GoDaddy. “ValerieforMaryland.org” and “ValerieforMaryland.net” also have been registered.
Ervin was Kevin Kamenetz’ lieutenant governor candidate until he died of a heart attack on May 10. The Kamenetz website was “KevinforMaryland.com.” It also was registered with GoDaddy.
Ervin has until 5 p.m. Thursday to decide one of three options.
She could take Kamenetz’ place on the ticket and name a new lieutenant governor candidate.
She could stay lieutenant governor and name a new gubernatorial candidate.
She could drop of out of the race altogether.
NBC’s Tracee Wilkins is reporting Ervin, who served more than seven years on the Montgomery County Council, will choose to run for governor.
#NEW: Sources close to Valerie Ervin confirm that she expecting a large financial contribution from Emily’s List. All signs point to her staying in the race for Maryland Governor after the passing of running mate Kevin Kamenetz. We expect an announcement today.

As for the websites, online information does not hint at who registered them. And as Erin Cox at the Baltimore Sun pointed out on Twitter, there’s a chance it’s for another Valerie altogether.
Maybe this is for Ervin, maybe it's for another Valerie, maybe it's a coincidence … https://t.co/Hyb92DBVXK
