Sherwood Loses to Urbana 11-1 in 4A MPSSAA Softball Playoffs

Sandy Springs, Maryland Sherwood High School May 14th 2018

Sherwood’s undefeated softball season came to an end Monday vs Urbana in the 4A MPSSAA playoff action.  The Hawks were ready to play and their bats pounded out hit after hit scoring runs three runs in the first inning and four runs in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead, and they never looked back.  The large lead was difficult to overcome because of Urbana’s hard throwing left-handed pitcher who struck out nine Warriors during the game.  Scoring for each team came to and end for the next three innings however it did not remain that way during the sixth and seventh innings where Urbana scored their ninth and eleventh runs off home runs.  The Warriors would have needed a miraculous comeback with only one inning remaining and needing to score so many runs.  The only bright spot for Sherwood came in the final inning off the bat of short stop Nicole Ladino when she tagged a solo home run.

Sherwood had a successful season finishing 15 wins to one loss that came at the hands of Urbana in the state playoffs.
