Five Things to Know for May 1 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know for Tuesday, May 1, in Montgomery County:

1. Legal Representation for Residents Detained?:  The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing regarding a special appropriation to County Government’s FY18 Operating Budget, DHHS for Legal Representation for Residents Detained for Deportation Proceedings.

2. Property Tax Credit: Montgomery County Councilmember George Leventhal will introduce a bill that would change the application process for individuals to receive the property tax credit for elderly individuals and retired military services members during the council’s regular scheduled session.

3.Arts and Cultural Center for Wheaton: Montgomery County’s Office of Planning and Development and its consultants will hold a community meeting regarding the possible creation of a new arts and cultural facility in Wheaton. The meeting will be held in the office of WorkSource Montgomery Wheaton in Suite 100, Room 407.

4. Informational for Future College Students: Montgomery College will host an informational session aimed to help parents and students navigate financial aid, placement testing, and college resources. Parents will receive advice on how to support their student during their first year of college, and students will learn about the next steps in the enrollment process.
