According to officials, Takoma Park Police collected 230 pounds of medications.
Residents are still able to dispose excess and expired prescription medications by taking them to the police department’s permanent drop off, located at 7500 Maple Avenue on the first floor lobby.
The collection site is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, according to a news release.
Items such as liquids, inhalers, aerosol cans, household ointments, needles and thermometers cannot be left.
