MCPL Holds Comic Convention in Silver Spring (VIDEO)

Fans both young and old are met some of their favorite characters during Montgomery County Public Libraries in Silver Spring Second Annual Comic Convention.

“Comic Conventions in general are just booming across the U.S. and so we wanted to partake,” Dana Alsup, librarian for MCPL, said.

So what exactly are Comic Cons?

They are events to celebrate comic books and popular culture with workshops, exhibits, and a cosplay contest.

Last year was the library’s first Comic Convention and more than 700 attended.

Organizers said they hope events like Montgomery County’s Comic Convention will show residents just how important libraries are to the community.

“I hope they know we are here for our community and we love being here for our community,” Alsup said.
