Animal Adoptions Increased 17 percent in 2017

Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center had more than 2,200 adoptions in 2017, a 17 percent increase over last year, said Katherine Zenzano, the agency’s community outreach coordinator.

The center has a 93 percent “live release rate,” which she called a good number for a municipal shelter. At 90 percent and up, a shelter can be considered as a “no kill” shelter.
