Five Things to Know for Nov. 15 in Montgomery County

Here’s five things to know today, Nov. 15, in Montgomery County:

1. Transportation Priorities?: Monthly meeting of the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board. They will review the results of an analysis that looked at a set of 10 initiatives to determine if they addressed regional transportation challenges, such as congestion and safety.  A new northern bridge crossing of the Potomac River and the BRT are among the set of projects to be discussed.

2. Speaking of BRT: Residents will have the opportunity to learn about the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line in three open houses hosted by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation which starts today.

3. County Executive Forum: The Democratic candidates for Montgomery County executive will participate in the first debate of the campaign at The National 4-H Conference Center located at 7100 Connecticut Ave in Chevy Chase. The debate begins at 4 p.m.

4. Community Stories: Docs In Progress has partnered with the Silver Spring Town Center Inc (SSTCi) to screen Jay Mallin’s 2017 film, The Bridge, which provides a perspective on the Talbot Street Bridge: a historic one-lane bridge which is the remaining physical link for the history of an African-American community once isolated by segregation in Silver Spring.

5. America Recycles Day:

One last thing, in case you missed it, the Montgomery County Board of Education approved the 2018-2019 school year calendar:
