Students Participate in Walk to School Day (PHOTOS)
More than 50 schools in the county’s public school system participated in International Walk to School Day Wednesday.
Founded in 1997, International Walk to School Day was established to bring community leaders and children together to bring awareness for walkable communities.
“We want the community to know that there are many benefits to walking to school,” Gboyinde Onijala, MCPS spokesperson, said. “It helps students get regular physical activity and develop healthy habits and is also a great way to focus on pedestrian safety.”
