Ficker to Address Montgomery Republicans

The Montgomery County GOP for District 17 meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at the MCGOP headquarters, 15833 Crabbs Branch Way, Rockville. Guest speaker is Robin Ficker, Republican candidate for county executive.

Dr. Jill Biden will speak to the Women’s Democratic Club of Montgomery County at the Bethesda Marriott, 5151 Pooks Hill Road. The sold-out event starts with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Women’s Democratic Club meets Monday, Sept. 18, at Bar Louie, 11006 Veirs Mill Road, Wheaton. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Education advocate Laurie Halverson, who served on the Maryland State Board of Education, will discuss growing concerns about the Montgomery County Public Schools. Lopez has filed for the District 39 primary, according to online records of the Maryland State Board of Elections.

Del. David Moon holds an Economic Justice Fundraiser, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Takoma Beverage Co., 6917 Laurel Ave., Takoma Park. Host committee: SEIU & 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. House Speaker Mike Busch and Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart invited. Tickets $40 and up. Moon has not filed for re-election.

Jeff Waldstreicher (D) of District 18 holds a reception for his state Senate campaign from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the home of Barry and Joanne Lynn, 2318 Ashboro Drive, Chevy Chase. Tickets $100 and up. Invited guests include House Speaker Michael Busch, Del. Dereck Davis, Sen. Rich Madaleno and Rep. Jamie Raskin.
