Here are five things to know today, July 26, in Montgomery County:
1. Bethesda Blast: The next controlled blast for the BRAC-related Crossing Project at the Medical Center Metro Station in Bethesda is currently scheduled to occur between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will be a single explosive blast. Alarm horns will sound five minutes before the blast and traffic will be halted on Rockville Pike between Jones Bridge Road and South Wood Drive (Navy Gate #2) for about 10 minutes. It is anticipated that very minimal vibrations will be felt, and the alarm horns will be heard only by people in the immediate vicinity.
2. Diabetes Support Group: The group meets at 12:30 p.m. at Holiday Park Senior Center, 3950 Ferrara Drive, Wheaton. Suburban Hospital’s Nurse Mary Flynn serves as the Diabetes Support Group facilitator. Come share support, knowledge, and resources. Newcomers welcome.
3. A Place to Call OM: The Gaithersburg Library hosts a Sahaja meditation class at 7:30 p.m.
4. Historic Matters: Gaithersburg’s Historic District Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Here’s the agenda.
