Young Man Shot Over His Shoes at Long Branch Local Park
A young man was shot in the arm at Long Branch Local Park on Friday night after he was confronted over his shoes, according to Montgomery County Park Police.
The incident occurred about 9 p.m., Capt. Rick Pelicano said. The young man was waiting for a friend to pick him up.
Two people approached him, and asked him if he was a member of the Cortez gang, a reference to the Nike Cortez tennis shoes, Pelicano said.
He said he wasn’t and handed over shoes to them, Pelicano said.
As his friend drove to the park to pick him up, the other two men opened fire on them, the officer said.
The young man with the shoes got hit in arm and was taken to a hospital, where he was released, Pelicano said.
The investigation continues.
