Fire Heavily Damages Damascus Home, Destroys Police Cruiser
Fire caused heavy damage to a home in Damascus early Friday morning, according to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman.
The fire also destroyed a Montgomery County police cruiser parked next to the home in the driveway. Explosions could be heard as the fire set off ammunition stored in the cruiser, Battalion Chief Daniel Ogren said. No injuries from the ammunition explosion, Ogren said.
Two people were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, Ogren said.
Firefighters were called to the home, a single-story ranch home in the 26600 block of Haney Avenue, just for 3 a.m.
Cause of the fire has not determined. Because of the significant damage, it is expected to take some time, Ogren said.
