Invictus Games Flag Handover Ceremony to Be Held in Bethesda
The Invictus Games flag will officially be passed to Canada on July 12 in a special passing of the flags ceremony at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.
Since the 2016 Invictus Games were played in the United States, co captains from Team USA will give Team Canada co captains the Invictus Games flag.
The passing of the flag from Team USA to Team Canada co-captains officially bestows Toronto with the responsibility of putting on an event that shines a light on the unconquerable spirit of our wounded warriors, and raises awareness and support of the recovery and health of our military personnel, veterans and their families, according to a news release.
The ceremony is hosted by Fisher House Foundation.
The Invictus Games they are the only international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick service members to come together to compete.
Competitors from Team Canada and Team USA along with their families will also share their personal journeys to the Games and the role Fisher House has played in their experiences.
