Council Recognizes Montgomery’s Top Science Talent (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

Montgomery County Council members recognized three high school students for being among the among the top 40 national finalists in the 2017 Regeneron Science Talent Search competition.

During the ceremony, Whitman High School student Rohan Dalvi (see photo) explained the project he worked on to aid Georgetown University researchers in developing a faster and more efficient technique for gauging the size and structure of biomolecules.

His project, and projects entered by Blair High School students David Rekhtman and Sambuddha Chattopadhyay, placed each among the top 40 national finalists in the 2017 Regeneron Science Talent Search competition.

On May 9, County Councilmember Nancy Floreen led ceremonies to honor the students for their achievements in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition that was started in 1942 by the Society for Science & the Public.
