After four weeks of construction, County Executive Ike Leggett joined leaders from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and Olney Theatre staff for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the theatre’s new lobby.

Designed by Inscape Studios, staff said visitors will have now have the chance to enjoy more open space.

“This has more of a contemporary feel to the space so it’s a lot more welcoming, interactive and user friendly,” Debbie Ellinghaus, managing director of Olney Theatre said.

The renovations costed roughly $400,000 and was funded by a grant from the State of Maryland, the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and community donations.

“It really says to the community that we are a world class regional theatre,” Ellinghaus said.
