Governor Signs Executive Order Requiring Public Schools to Begin After Labor Day (VIDEO)

At a news conference in Ocean City this week, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed an executive order requiring all public schools begin after Labor Day, and end by June 15th, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.

Alongside the governor was Comptroller Peter Franchot who has pushed for this idea, “Let Summer Be Summer,” for years.

But reaction to the governor’s action in Montgomery County is mixed. MyMCMedia’s Sonya Burke reports.
