Gaithersburg and Rockville Named as “Great Small Towns for Book Lovers”
There is a new list out that may be of great interest if you love small towns and books.
The website, AboutGreatBooks.com, has assembled a list recognizing towns that have strong connections to literature, and both the cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg are included on the “30 great small towns for book lovers” list.
Rockville is listed at number 26 and Gaithersburg is ranked number 29.
The city of Rockville is noted on the website’s list as the burial place of author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, and the website says the city is a great place to stay when visiting other literary sites in Washington, D.C.
The website recognized the city of Gaithersburg for its annual Book Festival that attracts award-winning and best-selling authors.
“This is great validation for what we’ve built over the past seven years,” said Gaithersburg Mayor and Book Festival founder Jud Ashman. “Residents of the D.C. metropolitan area are among the most well-read in the country. National recognition as a Great Small Town for Book Lovers just reinforces what we already know – that Gaithersburg is a rising star on the literary map.”
The top five towns on the list are Covington, Georgia, Decateur, Georgia, Salinas, California, Key West, Florida and Amherst, Massachusetts. Another nearby town, Charlottesville, Virginia is listed at number 12.
