Five Things to Know Today, May 10, in Montgomery County
Here are five things to know today, May 10th, in Montgomery County:
1. Don’t leave the house without your umbrella and jacket. Rain is in the forecast again, and today’s wet weather may slow your commute.
2. The Montgomery County Council meets today, and on the agenda is a public hearing on a bill that would increase the county’s recordation tax rates. The Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors is opposing this increase.
3. The Board of Education meets today, and some NAACP scholarship winners will be recognized along with the superintendent’s annual Mark Mann Excellence and Harmony Award winner. There’s a lot more on the agenda, including a school construction update that indicates that construction at Bethesda-Chevy Chase Middle School number two is behind schedule.
4. You can meet the artists at a free reception for the Jewels of the Earth exhibit tonight at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn.
5. They are rocking the world! The Rock Band students at Roberto Clemente Middle School are holding a rock benefit tonight to raise money to buy instruments for students in Kenya.
