Finnegan’s Wake Opens in Rockville Town Square (PHOTOS)
Montgomery County has a new neighborhood Irish pub in downtown Rockville. Finnegan’s Wake, a family owned pub located in Rockville Town Square, opened it’s doors on Friday, April 1.
The pub is co-owned by three family members, Vanessa Laurin, her husband Terry Laurin and brother Dominick Stanley. Vanessa and Terry, who both have nearly 20 years of combined experience in the food service industry, came up with the idea for opening the pub.
“We’re happy to be in the neighborhood,” said Vanessa Laurin. “Everyone has been so great to us, and we really love the neighborhood and are excited to make our own place here.”
Finnegan’s Wake was originally scheduled to open on St. Patrick’s day this year but experienced delays during the opening process. Laurin added that the pub is running specials all weekend and hopes that residents will turn out for a unique “mom and pop” pub experience.
The grand opening was truly a family affair with Laurin’s cousins, aunt and father pitching in to help out. Nearly an hour after opening, the pub was packed with customers.
“We look forward to meeting everybody,” Laurin added “We just really want this to be a place were it’s people’s home away from home. That’s what we’re looking for, a mom and pop that you’ll be comfortable in and you can get a good drink and enjoy conversation with all the great feels of an Irish pub.”
