UPDATED: Serious Collision Involving Tractor Trailer Closes Ridge Road

UPDATED Montgomery County police officers are investigating a serious collision that occurred Monday afternoon in Damascus.

According to police, the three vehicle collision occurred on Ridge Road near Gue Road.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 1994 GMC Sonoma was traveling northbound on Ridge Road when for reasons still under investigation, the Sonoma crossed the center line and collided with a 2015 Ford F-450 which was traveling southbound on Ridge Road.  According to police, the Sonoma was then struck by a 2015 tractor trailer that was traveling northbound on Ridge Road.

The driver of the Sonoma, police said, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver of the F-450 was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, police said.

Anyone who witnessed this collision or has information about this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.

ORIGINAL Montgomery County police and firefighters are at the scene of a serious collision involving a tractor trailer in the 27000 block of Ridge Road near Woodfield Road.

Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said one person has been extricated from the crash.

The road is closed while the investigation continues. Piringer said hazardous materials crews are also at the scene for the cleanup.
