1. County Council President Nancy Floreen meets with reporters for her weekly briefing, and one of the topics she plans to address is the County Executive’s recommended budget, which includes a property tax hike. Follow @MyMCMedia on Twitter for the latest beginning at 11 a.m. today. In other Council news, the Education, PHED and Public Safety Committees meet today.
2. The Montgomery County Board of Education also meets tonight, and one of the items on the agenda is the naming of the new Clarksburg/Damascus middle school.
3. Escalator replacements are scheduled to begin at the Glenmont Metro station today.
4. There were hundreds of teens looking for summer jobs at the Youth Job Fair held over the weekend in Silver Spring, according to the Montgomery County Recreation Department.
5. The Washington Spirit won its first preseason game against UVA on Saturday, and Spirit players will be practicing all this week at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The Spirit’s next preseason game is against Penn State on March 26th.
