Rockville Anticipates Cleanup Will Take Days
The City or Rockville anticipates snow removal will take multiple days and asks residents to stay off the roads Sunday as many remain impassable at this time.
According to a press release, crews will continue what is expected to be a multi-day cleanup effort. Crews will team up to conduct tandem plowing on the largest primary roads first. Many roads require that trucks haul snow from the site in order to make them passable. Crews will then continue to other primary roads. Secondary roads will not be plowed until the primary roads are done.
The city asks residents to give crews time to do their jobs. Status updates on individual roads are not available at this time.
Rockville’s snow emergency remains in effect today requiring all cars to be removed from the roads in order to allow effective road clearing.
As announced Friday, Jan. 22, city facilities, programs and activities are all canceled today. Updates for programs, classes and activities scheduled for Monday, Jan. 25 will be announced later and will be posted on the city’s website.
Snow must be removed from sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking spaces and similar paved area for public use within 72 hours of this snowfall.
Residents are asked to remove snow from around fire hydrants so that fire crews will have easier access to the hydrants in an emergency. Ice and snow should also be cleared from around storm drains, and the city asks residents to avoid shoveling snow into the street when possible.
Residents also are encouraged to check on older neighbors who may not be able to clear snow and may need some help. Rockville seniors in need of snow removal assistance may request help by calling 240.314.8819 or 240.314.8810.
One of your plow truck can by on north adams street this morning and was invole a accidents than he left and didn’t finish the job. Us residents on adams street here are stranded and have work in the morning
We understand you are very busy, but we need your help – Welsh Drive is a forgotten street it has not been cleaned – we are stranded even though the surrounded streets are already cleaned but it seems that some neighbors are away because their sidewalks are not clean. PLEASE send your trucks to clean Welsh Drive. Thank you.
We live off of Mo nroe Street and our cul de sac has not been plowed. We are both seniors and I am disabled. We cannot do any shoveling ourselves. Three other houses on big oak are occupied by seniors as well who cannot dig out. So we need assistance! Thank you.

Not one pass from a plow on Simmons Drive. The street is impassable due to the snow being so deep. There should have been at least one pass from a plow by now.
London Ln is also a forgotten street.
2:30 PM on 1/25 and every street and court in our neighborhood has been plowed except for us at Olmstead Court. Not even once. We could use a hand 🙂
Old Cabin Lane has not been plowed .. Please consider helping us out…
