Councilmember Katz Celebrates “Star Wars” Movie Release with Flashback Friday Picture (PHOTO)

Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz is celebrating the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Councilmember Katz posted a Gazette cover from 1999 in honor of the premiere, where he and Deputy Director of the Planning Department Rose Krasnow are dressed as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.

“The Gazette newspaper called Rose Krasnow, who was the Mayor of Rockville at the time and called me as the Mayor of Gaithersburg and asked whether or not we would dress up in costume and pose for that picture. And we did, and we both did it,”Councilmember Katz said.  “It really was a fun thing to have happened,” he said.

Katz says that Luke Skywalker is his favorite “Star Wars” character.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… We’re celebrating today’s release of The Force Awakens with a little #FlashbackFriday. This was the cover of The Gazette on May 19, 1999.
