Brian O’ Callaghan, age 38, of the 25200 block of Conrad Court in Damascus, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree child abuse resulting in death at the Circuit Court of Montgomery County.

According to court documents, in February 2014, O’Callaghan brought his 3-year-old adopted son Madoc Hyunsu O’Callaghan to Children’s National Medical Center, where the boy died two days later due to acute head trauma.

Police reports say O’Callaghan could not account for the boy’s injuries.

“This troubling case is coming to a resolution with Mr. O’Callaghan’s plea today,” said Ramon Korionoff, of the state’s attorney’s office. “He has taken responsibility for his actions in the shocking and unfathomable death of an innocent toddler.  We look forward to a stiff sentence in April.”

O’Callaghan is scheduled for sentencing on April 15, 2016.
