REI Relocating Rockville Store in 2017
REI, a specialty outdoor retailer company, is planning to relocate its REI Rockville store in the spring of 2017 to a bigger location less than one mile away at Pike & Rose, according to company officials.
At REI, you can find outdoor gear and apparel for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking, travel and paddling, and the bike shop provides cyclists with assembly and repair services. Consumers can also find expert advice from in-store guides and expanded classes and programs through REI’s Outdoor School.
“We are always looking for new ways to help local communities get outside and play,” said Greg Medlyn, REI’s divisional vice president of Retail. “Whether you’re hiking at Eagle Mountain Park or cycling the C&O Canal, we’ve been engaged in the outdoor communities in Fort Worth and Rockville for years and look forward to continuing to connect these communities to the outdoor places they love.”
According to a company news release, REI Rockville is relocating to expand its offerings to more than 52,000 active members in the region. The new two-story, 36,000 square foot store will be located less than one mile from the current location and is near transit. The new location is also nearby to several trails and parks, including the historic Rock Creek Park.
Company officials said there are currently more than 215,000 co-op members in the greater Washington, D.C. area who visit stores at Tysons, College Park and Bailey’s Crossroads, in addition to the current Rockville location. A fifth store is expected to open in the region in the fall of 2016 with the new flagship location at the historic Uline building in Washington, D.C.
For your huge new Rockville store you should consider displaying/markeing outside the store a folding-bike / Travoy trailer combination. (Can Google: Travoy) Marvelous solution for urban travel!!
Mine both fold up into my closet or under my desk. Works on Metro.
Trailer pops off and becomes a cool grocery cart in the isles of Whole Foods. Holds 60 lbs very stable.
Montgomery county really wants less congested, healthier, lower C footprint transport. What a brand!’: the REI SOLUTION for urban living. Check it out! (PS. I Don’t work for either.)
