- Round House’s production of Ironbound has a show at 8 p.m. in Bethesda. This play is part of the Women’s Voices Theater Festival.
- Musician Marcus Johnson performs at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club at 8 p.m.
- The Damascus Theatre Company’s production of The Musical of Musicals is appearing at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn tonight at 8 p.m.
Saturday, September 19

- The Carl Henn Memorial bicycle ride takes place today beginning at 9 a.m. RSVP required.
- Have you heard that Glen Echo Park now has an aquarium? Today, the aquarium celebrates with grand opening activities from 9 to 5 p.m.
- Local elections are set for Tuesday, Nov. 3. The city of Rockville is holding a Voter Registration Marathon from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at various locations throughout the city.
- Black Hill Nature Center’s Monarch Fiesta Day starts at 10 a.m. in Boyds. Event is free, but you must register.
- Poolesville is celebrating with their 23rd Annual Poolesville Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include parade, 5K run or walk, music and more.
- The Latino Economic Development Center presents a first-time home buyers’ expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Kensington.
- Brookside Gardens and Nature Center’s Children’s Day festivities include arts and craft, honey harvesting, demonstrations and more from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wheaton.
- Two-time Grammy award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer perform at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 11 a.m.
- The InterAct Story Theatre presents The Hero of Everything at the Silver Spring Black Box Theater at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. This is interactive theater for families.
- It’s time for Bluegrass again at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood. The “Bluegrass on the Farm Festival” takes place from noon to 6 p.m.

- Gaithersburg Library is hosting a Ethiopian New Year Celebration at 3 p.m. as part of African Heritage month.
- BlackRock Center for the Arts is hosting two “Meet the Artist” receptions at 3 p.m. Seeking Shores is a solo exhibit by Maryland artist Chayo de Chevez. Native Species is a group exhibition including works by local artists using wood.
- The Grandsons, Jr. perform at the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park at 3:15 p.m. This concert is fun for the whole family.
- The C&O Canal Trust hosts the Fifth Annual Park After Dark fundraiser at 6 p.m.
- It’s comedy time at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club with The Congressional Black Comedy Caucus Show hosted by Joe Clair with performances at 7 and 10 p.m.
- Maryland Public Television has produced a documentary about the city of Rockville. MPT hosts an outdoor film screening of Our Town – Rockville at 8 p.m. at the Rockville Town Square.
- The National Philharmonic features pianist Thomas Pandolfi at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore.
- The Damascus Theatre Company’s production of The Musical of Musicals is appearing at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn tonight at 8 p.m.
- ‘Philly Kid’ James Lloyd performs at AMP by Strathmore at 8 p.m.
Sunday, September 20
- Rabies vaccination clinic is open today from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood.
- The Takoma Park Folk Festival features six stages of music and dance from around the world. Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
