Gaithersburg-Germantown & Rockville Chamber’s Host Roundtable With Senator Cardin
The Gaithersburg-Germantown & Rockville Chambers of Commerce hosted a Small Business Roundtable with Senator Ben Cardin, on July 13 at Kaplan University in Rockville.
Over 60 business owners gathered to have a candid discussion with the Senator Cardin on a myriad of topics including: the economy, jobs, health care, mental illness, transportation, taxes and a wide range of issues impacting small businesses.
Business leaders exchanged ideas on how the federal government can be a better partner in assisting Marylanders as they strive to be the best and most innovative in their fields.
Cardin, a senior member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and member of the Senate Finance Committee, said that one of his top priorities is to ensure that small businesses “get the support and capital they need to create new jobs and build our economy”.
He noted that as of recent they have been “hitting the numbers with Federal procurement”. Cardin added that this was the second straight year that the government wide goal of 23 percent was exceeded (referring to small business prime and sub-contracting).
During his discussion, he mentioned that those that needed assistance managing their small business should use the resources available to them including the US Small Business Administration and/or the Maryland’s Department of General Services.
