The Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington announced on June 30 that it will offer the Adventist Lunch & Learn free summer camp for children and teens at the John Nevins Andrews School in Takoma Park.

According to a news release, ACSGW is a cosponsor for the camp, which offers math, English, computer skills training and swimming. The effort is in partnership with The City of Takoma Park, Montgomery County Government, and the Manup organization.

According to ACSGW officials, 90 people have registered, but more than 100 showed up to participate. Local organizations want to help families and address children’s needs during the summer months. The camp provides fun, educational activities, and recreation.

“This is the first summer camp ACSGW has sponsored for youth in Maryland. It’s also the largest training program for youth we have been involved with. The kids are mostly from the heart of Takoma Park and will be shuttled to the camp by bus from several pickup points and given breakfast, a snack and lunch provided by the Montgomery County Summer School Lunch program,” ACSGW’s Administrative Officer, Pat Tyser.

ACSGW is still accepting donations to help cover the cost of tuition and administrative costs for Lunch & Learn. The camp runs through August 2. For more information or to learn how to donate, click here.
