Riderwood Residents Enjoy Next Generation of Theater Talent at Reservoir High School

One of the joys of working in a senior living community is seeing the bonds that are often created between generations.  Here is one such story from Riderwood retirement community in Silver Spring:

When residents of Riderwood want to enjoy Broadway-style theater, they have a connection right on its 120-acre campus.

Residents of Riderwood attend the Reservoir High School Theater Arts Department spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, in April.

They just ask Lori Hamilton, LNHA, Director of Extended Care at the Erickson Living retirement community, when her daughter, Megan, will be performing.

Megan, sophomore, was part of the ensemble of the Reservoir High School Theater Arts Department’s spring musical rendition of The Drowsy Chaperone.

The Tony-award winning original is a parody of American comedy of the 1920’s with book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. It debuted in Toronto in 1998 and opened on Broadway in 2006.

On April 17, a group of 19 residents traveled to Reservoir High, part of the Howard County Public School System, to enjoy the opening night performance.

“Having opportunities to share fun experiences between generations is one of the reasons Riderwood is such a special place to work,” stated Lori Hamilton. “Megan and her peers at Reservoir High are grateful that the residents attend their performances. In turn, the residents get to witness the next generation of actors, singers and musicians.”
